Speaking & Consulting

Project Based Learning: Ross Cooper  (my Hacking Project Based Learning co-author) and I offer various project based learning sessions that can incorporate and/or extend the contents of our book. These sessions can last from one-hour to multiple days, and they are tailored to meet the needs of the audience.

Hacking Project Based Learning
We bring our book to life by walking participants through our 10 hacks, which construct a simple path educators and students can easily follow to achieve success with PBL.

PBL Paralysis
We address the elephants in the room by tackling the main obstacles (“Yes, buts…”) we typically face when implementing project based learning. You can read a little more about PBL Paralysis in this EdWeek post: 4 Symptoms and Remedies for Hacking Project-Based Learning.

Avoiding Project Based Learning Fluff
Based on Ross’s blog post – 5 Ways to Avoid Project Based Learning Fluff #HackingPBL – we explore how to design authentic learning experiences that intentionally dispel the myth that PBL isn’t real learning.

Projects vs. Project Based Learning
Based on my blog post – 5 Critical Questions to Ask About Your Project #HackingPBL – we explore the various ways in which project based learning is different from (and better than) traditional projects.

Leading Project Based Learning
We take a look at ways in which building or district leaders can support PBL, while gaining buy-in from stakeholders that include teachers, students, and parents.

Personalized Professional Development: In addition, I regularly consult with other leaders and learners regarding Literacy, Technology, and Leadership.

I would love to discuss ways I could assist you, your district, or organization. Let’s talk:
